About the Role

We're looking for a versatile Software Engineer to join our Platform & Services team — the group that builds and operates the services powering the rest of the product: APIs, internal platforms, integrations, and the supporting systems that everything else depends on. This is a broad, hands-on engineering role for someone in the 2–5 year experience range who enjoys variety, owns features end to end, and likes building well-designed services that other teams rely on. More senior candidates will additionally take on technical design ownership and mentor others on the team.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs used across the organization.

  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal systems and third-party services.

  • Build features end to end — from data model to API to deployment and monitoring.

  • Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of the services you own.

  • Add the observability (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) needed to operate confidently in production.

  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotation for the systems you own.

  • Collaborate with Product and other engineering teams to ship features that serve internal and external users.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience building backend services.

  • Strong programming skills in one or more of: NodeJS, Bun, JavaScript/TypeScript, Golang (we use a mix; depth in at least one is what matters).

  • Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) — schema design, transactions, indexing, and query performance.

  • Comfort designing and consuming REST/HTTP APIs and working across service boundaries.

  • Experience building and operating microservices — service boundaries, inter-service communication, and independent deployability.

  • Hands-on experience with event-based / event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).

  • Working knowledge of the saga pattern (orchestration and/or choreography) for managing distributed transactions and compensating actions across services.

  • A pragmatic, ownership-driven approach to building and operating services.

Preferred

  • Experience in the banking and/or payments industry or other regulated, high-reliability domains.

  • Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL stores.

  • Experience building developer-facing or internal platform tooling.
