Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities 

People Management 

  • Empower your team – Help, foster, mentor and grow your team members to extract the best from them. 
  • Set aside time for weekly / fortnightly / monthly 1-on-1 sessions with your team
  • Resolve conflict between team members
  • Determine the need for training and talent development
  • Manage hiring needs for your team
  • Provide constructive feedbacks to your team members
  • End of year evaluation and feedback to team members

Technology 

  • Help lead research and development project that produce new designs. Be a champion of technical debts for the product, making sure technical debts are heard by PO and included in prioritisation
  • Help Product team come up with architecture for new initiatives 
  • Use your experience and help design scalable, reliable, secure and efficient products
  • Identify gaps and improve team development process 
  • Become the sounding board for the team. Let the team members bounce ideas with you

Metrics 

  • Help in creating standard metrics to identify and improve team, productivity and overall business value

Desired Skill Set and Attributes 

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 6 years of prior working experience and expertise in Full-Stack development  
  • Start-up’s tech lead/engineering manager who has built, managed teams 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Good stakeholder management skills; ability to interface and build relationships with stakeholders 
  • Good knowledge in at least 1 programming language (Java, Scala, Python, Kotlin) 
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skill; coordinate with department head to achieve company goals
